Sanchong District - Week 7

I'm on a mission all because of Jesus. We're all here because of Jesus. I realize that time and time again, in different ways each time.

Yesterday, Sunday night, we had a "Christmas Share" with a couple where the husband, Cai Dixiong has been a member for fifteen years. And his non-member wife, Huang Jiemei has refused meeting with missionaries for years. She has said no to us in the recent past. By some miracle, she agreed to let us meet with her and her husband Sunday evening and share a Christmas message. We really prepared for our message; prayerfully pondered possible Atonement of Christ scriptures, inspired questions, and searched for a Church Christmas video that was translated into Chinese. Our focus was to be "What did Jesus do for us?" "Why do we need a Savior?" and "From do we learn the details of this glorious truth?"

We started the share by getting to know them a little bit and asking questions that would help them feel good and share happy experiences. Then we shared the video "He is the Gift" and asked Cai Dixiong to share with us what kind if influence the Atonement of Jesus Christ has had on him. When he opened up to share, the Spirit flooded into the room. He became very emotional as well, and it was clear that Jesus Christ is very important to him. We proceeded to read Mosiah 3:4-13 (I encourage you to read it too) and asked Huang Jiemei what, according to the scripture, did Christ do for us? She understands what He did. She has intellectualized it. Now we want her to internalize it. And so we testified of the truths we know and extended her an invitation.

We promised her that if she would sincerely pray and read the Book of Mormon every day, she would begin to come to know the Savior. Not just come to know about Him...but come to know Him. When we study and ponder the life of Christ in the scriptures, we can more fully understand His love for us and His sacrifice. Further, we can learn how to apply His Atonement every single day. Then our lives will be better.

She accepted our invitation, and it was really cool to see. She was feeling the Spirit. She was different than I've seen her before, and I just know she's going to continue to grow in faith and willingness to follow our Savior. That is the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ!

My invitation to you is to take time this week to study about Christ, and do something to emulate His example. Find someone to serve. For ideas, go to Mormon.org and participate in the #LightTheWorld campaign! I love you all so much, and that's why I share these things, why I'm giving you this invitation! Have the best week!
