Hualien - Week 44 - Always Follow Up!

I locked myself and Sister Lee out of the chapel during dinner one rainy night this week...we went outside to throw some stuff away and then as the door was swinging to a close, Sister Lee said "you have the keys right?"

and I didn't.

So we sat outside underneath the upperhead covering of the main doors of the chapel for thirty minutes, no way to contact anyone with keys since our phones were inside and we have nobody's number memorized (oops). Luckily the elders and our ward mission leader would be arriving soon with keys so we could start coordination meeting. In the meantime, my companion and I were able to watch, hear, and feel sprinkles of the soothing, pouring rain. And we talked. We got to know each other better that night.

This week also included:
a killer exercise class last at World Gym last P-day taught by a lady who actually was baptized in Taizhong but hasn't been to church in a while--we want to help her come back!!,
exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders where Sister Xie and I knocked doors and were fed dinner by a member family,
a super fun English class where we did "speed dating" to help everyone practice English with each other (I am now teaching the Middle-level class for my first time on the mission!),
and our ward mission leader's car breaking down and getting towed as he took us to the boonies to teach a family who ended up standing us up, haha,
and lots of other fun stuff.

The biggest miracle of the week was Sister Su. We met her about a month-and-a-half ago maybe...she really felt the Spirit when we shared about Jesus Christ with her on the street and gave us her address so we could visit her. She ended up cancelling on us twice so we kind of just put her record away for a while. Recently, though, we received some inspired counsel from President M. Russell Ballard about FOLLOWING UP with people who have interest. We must not forget them. So we decided to go back and visit Sister Su on Monday night, and she said she is so busy with work and kids. So we shared Mosiah 24: 14-15 and asked her what impressions she received while reading it because she seemed deep in thought. "If I go to church my life will be better," she said. She set up again for Thursday and as we shared the Restoration, she pondered once again. We asked her "would you like to know if the Book of Mormon is true?" and she nodded and said "yes."

There is a way that you can know that the Book of Mormon is "unequivocally the word of God" (see here, President Nelson's General Conference address from Oct 2017). And it is through sincere study, pondering, and prayer. You can ask God if the Book of Mormon is true, and He will give you an answer through the power of the Holy Ghost. FOLLOW UP and act on the answer you receive, then watch the blessings rain down, just like the rain outside the chapel.

We invited Sister Su to do these things, and we invited her to be baptized. She said she would, and she set a baptismal date. We are excited to see how she progresses and develops faith in Christ through learning of Him and keeping His commandments!

Love you guys, and here is some inspiration for the week that got me PUMPED during personal study one day:
